WHAT IS LITERARY DAY?
In 2016, the Board of Governors voted to create a day each year to celebrate our heritage as a literary fraternity. Literary Day is meant to serve as a unified day where chapters and alumni can spend time volunteering for a literacy charity, collecting/donating books to a local school or hosting a guest lecture event on campus. Our hope is that all members will find a way to use this day to revisit our history and make a meaningful impact in their community.
EXAMPLE LITERARY EVENTS
-
Partner with a local school to host a book drive.
-
Sponsor a guest lecture event or series on campus.
-
Build a stronger chapter library by having senior members donate their favorite book.
-
Create a literary scholarship program with the help of local alumni.
-
Work with a local bookstore to host a book signing or discussion.
-
Organize a book club with undergraduate and alumni members.
-
Live-stream chapter literary presentations at your chapter.
If your chapter has questions or needs additional ideas, please contact a Chapter Service Consultant, Our CSCs can help share some "best practices" or even suggest an event that would work best with your chapter.
