The Samuel Eells Literary and Educational Foundation’s Seward Scholarships are awarded on behalf of Clarence A. Seward, who throughout his studies and notable career made multiple donations to help undergraduates reach their academic goals. His understanding of the literary tradition as a treasure worth sharing is the fundamental goal of this scholarship. Scholarships are awarded as competitive-based grants to those individuals who demonstrate not just scholarly achievement but also leadership and significant contributions to the community at their college or university.
Seward Scholarships are awarded annually to undergraduate college students at select schools on the basis of their academic achievement and contributions to the community.
Scholarships are awarded only to those applicants who will be full time students in the next academic year and must be used to meet direct educational expenses such as room, board, tuition, and books. Scholarships will range up to $1,000 and are awarded on a competitive basis.
